Desperate to save his marriage, a respected judge, Koen, hesitantly gives in to fulfilling the masochistic desires his wife, Magda, has been hiding from him for nearly 30 years. Initially shocked at the revelation, his love for his wife helps him overcome his own inhibitions and the two begin to lead a secret life in the city's S/M sex scene.

Though a friend and confidante warns him that his position could be at risk, Koen maintains that his private life has nothing to do with his professional one. But when Koen and Magda are caught in a police sting operation, his arrest and trial cause a national scandal--while their activities are consensual, they are viewed by the court as criminal.
